Those Pesky Buggers – Getting Rid of Fleas on Cats
Getting rid of fleas on cats is probably one of the hardest things to do. What’s that? You say you don’t have cats and what’s the big deal about fleas on cats anyway? Cats aren’t man’s best friend, after all.
Let’s look at this another way.
If you have children you probably know about this first hand, but if you’re still stuck on the whole dog thing and you don’t have children, think back to when you were a kid. Remember how one little classmate would get lice and soon everyone, including you, had them?
Those little buggers were harder than hades to get rid of and, at least when I was little, it involved a lot of head-washing with some nasty smelling special shampoo and even more intense combing that I was sure would leave me with exactly zero strands of hair left on my head. New treatments for lice are a dime a dozen, each one being espoused as the best thing ever, but how do you effectively get rid of the problem safely and effectively?
And so it is with fleas on cats. There are plenty of treatments that may work but involve insanity-producing cat-wrangling and the potential for loss of limbs. Some treatments involve using chemicals that can be detrimental to the health of both your cat and you. What do you do if you want to eradicate fleas without harming the environment around you? Ah, the choices…
Sometimes I think we have too many choices. So many, in fact, that it’s hard to decide where to start (which wastes far too much time) and once you do, the potential for wasting money trying to discover what actually works is ridiculous – especially with the economy being all sorts of crazy.
Who has the time or the money to waste on getting rid of the fleas on their cats?
I mean, throwing them out on the street to fend for themselves isn’t an option..
